The Three G's

So I did three G's this weekend (I'm kinda pushing it, it's just to make it sound nicer).

  The Three G's are:
  1. Geocaching
  2. (American) Gods
  3. Game of Thrones
After a two years hiatus, I finally got back into Geocaching (just in time for Spring too!). This is totally not because I have a new phone plan and now have 4Gs of data that I might as well spend.

It all started when I want to try out the new ramen restaurant downtown. Turns out, the restaurant only opens in the evening on Saturdays, so I guess I'll just settle with my favourite vegan place, Peaceful Loft then.

After having a meal, I set forth to geocache!

Roughly my trail

The problem with a nice April day in St John's is that everyone wants to be out. It's rare to have nice days in St John's, which makes geocaching tougher due to all the muggles around. I think the whole thing last me for 5 hours, and the blue lines I made in the map was just an incredibly long uphill road. I started at 2pm and got home around 7pm, my legs were extremely jelly at that point.

One of the hard things about getting back to geocaching after all this while is that, I don't know what I am looking for! I basically threw out all my skills and knowledge, and have to learn from scratch again. There was a special cache in Bannerman Park, that one was an incredibly tricky cache, one that I have never encountered before. When I was there, it was around 5pm already. Luckily, the cache I was at was far away from the playground, where all the kids were at, so I don't really have to worry about all them muggles. However, there was another cache that I did not find, because it was supposed to be located next to the playground, and there were so many kids that time! Maybe it's easier to do it when sun's down, but it's still cold after the sun sets here, so naahhhh, not yet.

As the time approaches evening, it gets colder, that's why if you look at the map, I didn't go through all the higher populated geocache areas. I wanted to get home to warmth (and to rest my legs). The last few around MUN was the easy ones. If you see it in carparks and stuff, then you immediately know its magnetic and just look for metal. Those in the woods, check around tree.

When I got home, my downstairs neighbour invited me to go to McDonalds. I politely decline his offer. I mean, I was dead tired, but I had other reasons too.

He's one those "vulgar tough-boi" type

After that, I checked how much data I used. I basically left my data on the entire time, with the location turned on.

~62MB used
That's.... not a lot...
So yeah... 4Gs of data, and I don't know what to do use it for. I've lived in Canada for almost 5 years now, and my first 2 years I had 100MB, while the last 2 years I didn't even have a data plan, so having 4Gs overnight is a huge change, and if I don't use it, I feel like I'm wasting money.

So, American Gods. I've been watching Kim's Convenience on TV, and there's always the ad about American Gods. The ad looks really cool, so I decided to read the book before watching the show (I wouldn't have this issue with Good Omens!). I borrowed the book from the public library. In fact, I was in queue since February, the guy who borrowed it finally returned the book, with a hefty 2 months late fee. That being said, there is a queue for this book, which means I cannot extend my borrow length, so I have to finish the book in 10 more days.

First thing I noticed is that our protagonist is named "Shadow". The story so far is good, but... "Shadow"....

Anyway, I finished the first chapter, will probably finish it in 10 days (kinda have to).

Yesterday night, I watched the season premiere of Game of Thrones with my roommates! There were lots of things that I still don't know, like: Whos the guy with the 3 girls? Whats Samwell's relationship with Jon Snow? What's up with Jaime and Bran?

I slept late yesterday night... cause I was in my bed googling, reading through the wikia.

I know nothing

The show, and my roommates, were just name dropping. It kind of reminds me of my time with Harry Potter. I mean, c'mon! Podrick sounds exactly like a character from Harry Potter! I'm not sure if he appeared in the season premiere, but I know my roommate was arguing that the blacksmith (Gendry) was Podrick. The only reason why I knew it was Gendry was because the subtitles says Gendry. I don't know who Gendry is, I just know the man is Gendry. Which was also a source of teasing, as we both were teasing the questiony roommate, because the subtitles clearly states Gendry, and yet she still kept on insisting its Podrick (at this point, I'm googling who the hell is Podrick).

But yeah, basically the episode's cliffhanger made my roommates go all "OOOOHHHH" and I'm like "What? What? I don't get it!!!!"

I'll be watching the next episode cause I'm curious too! But yeah, that's my weekend!
