AAB

A quickie. I think my next proper post would be my opinion on this book I recently read called "Ikigai: The Secret to a Long and Happy Life".

Spoiler alert: I didn't like it

I'm thinking of starting up knitting. It's one of those past times that I always notice people do when they're watching shows or something. I've seen some videos on the how-to's and it looks super intimidating, but my friend who tried to get me into knitting assured me that it's not scary and is in fact quite easy, so I guess it's one of those it looks hard but it gets easier once you get the gist of it kind of deal (like board games!). For now: I have no idea where to start. I don't know where one can get yarn or the sticks, or the how-to. My friend advised me to start with acrylic because "it's easier to fix your mistake", and start with scarves and beanies first. I found a yarn cafe/store downtown, so one of these days I'm going to that place to ask about on the how-tos.

The other thing I learned is that Duolingo has a user submission thing! That's why the Swedish Duolingo is filled with some amazing things that one would probably not learn in a language learning app (or class).

Like seriously, don't eat the yellow snow.
This new revelation also brought forward another thing:

Assuming that every language has "equal opportunity" in terms of the privilege for user-submitted sentences, then the Germans are really not taking full opportunity in making funny sentences. The German section of Duolingo is so prim and proper, it's like one of those boarding school headmistress kind of deal.

You would think the "feelings" section would be some super dramatic part.
turns out it's the most basic thing ever.
Also I recently bought one of those giant container of peeled garlic. It's really convenient. Love it. I'm also kinda known as the "stats guy" around some people. I've been tutoring lots of random people on statistics. Like, I just get emails from former employers asking me "hey I know a person who needs help with stats, could you tutor?" and I'm like "sure" and then I suddenly have a side gig. The cool part is that I enter all these tutoring with no rates, like literally volunteering, but a lot of these adults insist on paying and they just gave me like $50 for 2 hours. I didn't ask for anything but I dunno :/

Starting March, I'm planning to be a more consistent member of the MUN board games club. I'm also planning to start kickboxing lessons. Now that I'm no longer a student, I no longer have free access to the university gym; so now that I have to pay to use some exercise facilities, might as well use that money to learn some martial arts!

But yeah! I'm super excited about knitting and kickboxing and board gaming!
