AAM Part 2, Music Music Music!

Just started my violin lessons! For the first class, the only thing we did was to how to hold the bow. The teacher assured me that the next class will have lots of squeaks and scratches, but for now, we gotta learn how to hold the bow.

Holding the bow is actually pretty tough. Just in a few minutes, my fingers feels so stiff and janky. It feels like I'm always almost dropping the bow. She then told me why holding the bow is so important, and she did this quick playing thing, and told me that to do that, it's all in holding the bow, and not the wrist or arm technique or something. I do not understand what she's saying but I trust her because she's the one who's been playing for decades.

Stay tuned for next week when I'll play horribly!

I totally forgot that I wanted to write this. I was suppose to group it together into AAN but then it slipped my mind so it gets its own post yaayyy.

So, while playing slay the spire, I basically turned off the sound and start browsing through songs: new, old, and stuff that I've never heard before. Usually, how I find who to listen to is to see who came out on Discover Weekly and just check out the rest of their works, or just find a song I like, and check out the rest of their works.

Usually through stumbling upon them, or recommended by friends or family, or old bands that made me went "huh, I wonder how their other songs I like" (See: Hujan)

So remember Kinoko Teikoku, the Japanese J-rock shoe gaze band I kept on raving on about? Apparently there are rumours that they are breaking up :(

When the lead did her solo project that one time, it sounded nothing like the music her band made, so there are already words in the wind that she was losing interest in the shoegaze identity of the band. And now, apparently the parents of the bassist passed away or something, and he decided to continue his parents legacy because the father was a shrine guardian or something, so there's that. uwu

So rather then talking about a band that is rumoured to be broken up, let's talk about a band which already have broken up: Kent. Kent is that Swedish band that is the bottom two of my most recently added song into my playlist. Mind you, those songs are from their 2002 and their 2005 album respectively. I really liked those two songs, so I decided to check out their music. Problem is, they have like a bunch of albums, and it's hard to choose a place to start. Usually, what one would do is to start from their oldest album and make their way to their latest album (this is what I did with Arctic Monkey). This time however, I decided to start with their newest album first, and work my way back.

I'll get to Jannabi later
I started with their latest album, Då som nu för alltid first. I mean, it's aight. I still don't understand what they're saying, but it sounds nice. I particularly like Den Sista Sången, which is also the last song of the album, so that's kinda cool. Tigerdrottningen though, hmmm. Again, I don't really understand what they're singing still, but it sounded a bit too... poncy... There's this air of pretentiousness surrounding it. I don't know what it is, and maybe I'm reading the verbal-less air completely wrong, but that's what I felt.

To me, the strangest and coolest part about this is that, these two albums do not give me that sense of awe Socker and Klåparen did, so that makes me kinda excited to work my way back in time. I'm hoping that the more I go back, the more it feels like those two songs.

Might as well go right to left. Boygenius is aight. Really short... EP? Wouldn't really call it an album. Soft Sounds from Another Planet is aight too. Alright, Jannabi!

So Jannabi is this Korean band I've been listening to lately. They only released two album so far, so its not the hardest to catch up with them. I love their sound so much. I stumbled onto them when YouTube just randomly recommended me a music video of theirs, and I'm like "eh why not", no ragerets!

One of my favourite thing that Eastern band does to their single is that their "B-side" is an instrumental track of their "A-side". I use quotations because no one really releases singles on vinyls anymore, but the trend kinda still happen digitally. The band, being Korean, sings their songs in Korean (duh), so again, no idea what they're saying. But, I love their sound, and I love the guy's voice. And sometimes, you fall in love with the track, and so sometimes you just want to hear the instrumental version of the song, it makes a great background noise to if you're reading, or playing slay the spire... I really wish there's an instrumental version of  Den Sista Sången, I really like the guitars in that song.

So I introduced the song to my Korean colleague, and the guy also fell in love with the single (for lovers who hesitate). Fun fact: Despite the name of the songs being all in English, there's actually no English in it, and they have a Korean version of the name and what not. Just check it out yo, I'm gonna put the link right here so no reason for you to not check it out!

My Korean friend started sending me links to covers of this song. I find it kinda cute. We never really talked outside of work and school (we're both in Stats). And now, from time to time, he sends me links to random Korean songs. He apparently isn't a very big fan of K-pop, and he finds this song extremely refreshing. He was surprised that there was no English words at all in the entire song, because usually K-pop has words like DANCE or LOVE. Also there's this guy at work who has an Asian fetish (dude loves K-pop), and is always inquiring him about Korean pop culture. He (Asian fetish man) also sometimes ask me to learn and speak Korean because "it's sooo haawt" >.>  One day, he even just came up to me and told me that "I wished I was born Asian", but that's a tale for another day.

But yeah, aside from him, work's fine. I like working with Korean man, he lets me do whatever I want provided I don't... you know... do illegal stuff?

Have you checked out the song yet? Go check out Summer next! It's another song by Jannabi too, gogogogogo!

This post is also my 99th post! Ah ma gawsh!!!! I'm hoping I have something spectacular for my 100th post! I better start doing some In...SAAaaAyYnEEeee activities so my 100th post will be like "wow".
