AAZ

Been thinking bout getting a new tattoo but thinking about the area and the pain it comes with (in certain places) jolted me up back to Earth. My friends were like "man, its just temporary", but what I was thinking at the time was "yeah, but it hurts very much so". Also its very expensive.

AAY: Y2K19

So I've just learnt that arachides is french for peanuts, and not arachnids (which are arachnides). So it is good to know that buerre d'arachide is peanut butter and not spider butter.

AAX: Was gehts!

Nani?! Is this an update?!!!! After 3+ weeks of inactivity???? Is this possible?

Well, if you're reading this, then it's probably real. That, or you know exactly how my typing style is like and this is totally 100% fabricated in your mind. Seems impossible aye? Well, that depends. If you push your mind real hard, you can totally fabricate anything. That's the power of the mind.

Real talk though, lots happened in the past 30+ days. I don't know how much I want to and can type and talk about here. Sometimes when there's too much stuff (which means it will be a very long post), I lose interest and then don't write about it. Just like that, that entire just got lost into the ether unless you were there to experience it with me or I was ranting about it there and then (my DDR buddies definitely knew what's went on).

So anyway, big-ish update soon I guess!

AAW

Some extremely grade AAA bullshit going on in my life right now for the past few weeks. Still alive, hanging in there. See ya when I see ya laddies.

AAV

I'm reaching the point of the alphabet in where I have to constantly sing the alphabet song to know what the next alphabet is.

AAU

Still applying for jobs, that's about it. That being said, what can a guy do for a low cost, while being completely new to the place?

Final St John's Post

My my, I believe it was around this time 5 years ago that I arrived in St John's. Look at me now, leaving around the same time too. It's like an almost perfect book-ends ending eh?

AASQL

So the thing about my field is that, in the job application process, you do not get an interview first.

No, no, no. My field is too technical for that. So what they do is that they send you a test, and then you gotta do it and send it back to them before the deadline. The issue with analytics is that every company uses different tools to do their analysis.

Good news is that I was given a test (as opposed to outright rejecting me from the application process). The bad news is that I have 72 hours to learn a new data management language so that I could actually do the test.

As you can guess it, the language I had to learn was SQL (Standard Query Language).

AAQ

Now that I think I'm getting better from that entire horrible week of not speaking, well, I guess I just feel a lot more better (physically!)

I think I have laryngitis

Nothing serious. Diseases always have such scary names but upon checking, laryngitis is kind of like a DLC to the common cold. Not a DLC I want but it's what I get.

Basically I have all the symptoms of the common cold + I now have puberty voice. My voice is constantly breaking and it sounds horrible. Worse part is at work, where I have to talk. This isn't a big enough of an issue to call in sick (unless I use the term laryngitis, then they'll go "oh no" and probably not knowing what it is).

Down with the Sickness

OOH-WA-AH-AH-AH

Currently sick. Sore throat, headache, constantly tired, all that jazzz. My phlegm was black as souls.

I have a few reason why I think I got sick.

AAP, Pretty much nuffin'

I tried out Brazillian Jiu Jitsu for the first time.

I've always watched the men aggressively hug each other on the map, but I never got it. So, when I joined the "fundemental class", literally there was only 2 complete newbies, me and this other girl. The other girl came and tried out because her boyfriend brought her here, which means that those 2 will be partnering up.

So who was I partnered up with? Some guy who's like purple belt. Well, I learn A LOT from him. My aikido days definitely helped with some of the basic movements (like rolling and break falling), but the grappling is insane.

Needless to say I got my ass handed to me. I lasted like 3 seconds on the mat before needing to tap out cause I'm just constantly getting destroyed by these folks. It was fun though!

AA(10)O: 100th post

Title is pushing it. I'm trying to fit like a 100th post milestone into the title. Conveniently, after N is O, which kinda looks like the number zero (0). So that's why I think it would be great for it to be like 1OO or like 10O or something. Look at me, master of literary and teacher of math.

AAM Part 2, Music Music Music!

Just started my violin lessons! For the first class, the only thing we did was to how to hold the bow. The teacher assured me that the next class will have lots of squeaks and scratches, but for now, we gotta learn how to hold the bow.

Holding the bow is actually pretty tough. Just in a few minutes, my fingers feels so stiff and janky. It feels like I'm always almost dropping the bow. She then told me why holding the bow is so important, and she did this quick playing thing, and told me that to do that, it's all in holding the bow, and not the wrist or arm technique or something. I do not understand what she's saying but I trust her because she's the one who's been playing for decades.

Stay tuned for next week when I'll play horribly!

AAN, (k)Nots on my body aghhhhh

Follow up from last week, my back still is super "sour" (酸). It's a concept where it's not really pain or a sore... but it's just not pleasant and annoying... usually due to bad posture or over exertion or any of those things.

In my case, I think my shoulder and back is riddled with knots.

AAM, Madnesssss

  Now we're at series M!

I guess madness is a bit of an over exaggeration. This one is more like a... mundane sort of madness, y'kno?

I guess its much easier to understand when there's background. So basically, my body hurts, like physically. Mostly my back. But don't worry, this is not one of those kind of disease (I hope), but it just hurts and I think I need some massage or something. A hurt body sucks. It saps your energy and you don't feel like doing anything worthwhile. So what did I do when I have this? I got home from work then I stay and play video games. Such productive waow.

AAL, Taking My Life One Step at a Time

After telling my friends about the pains about trying to learn the violin, all of them going "hey, it's not that difficult", I told them that the violin I have does not have the tape thing on the neck to show the notes. Then they said, why don't you just tape it then, then I said, cause it's government property (I loaned it from the public library, which is owned by the provincial government). Now, one of them is giving me her violin (with the tape on the neck) because y'kno the usual:

Went abroad, decided to continue practicing their instrument, bought one, suddenly there's no time or interest anymore to continue practicing, maybe pick it up again in 3 months then put it down again; so she's giving it to me.

All I have to do now is to go to her place and pick it up, then go to some music store and fix it (because it's also broken and she didn't bother to fix it, that's why she doesn't play it anymore I guess). Not trying to say she's bad at taking care at her stuff. No, she's recently graduated biochem in honours and is now studying for her masters. According to her instagram, whatever free time she has she goes back to her boyfriend's place outside the city (her bf is a local), so there's that.

People that play the violin has some level of class y'kno!

AAK

So, this time it's K. So what about K?

Well, K could mean many things; but there is one K in my mind right now.

Long live the king
Movie's too good man. Can't keep it out of my mind.

Well, the story kinda sucks, but... I'm gonna quote a very short conversation I had with an old friend:

Me: "Hey, have you seen the new Godzilla movie yet?"

Him: "Not yet, critics said it sucks because there's too many monster fights, so that means I have to see it."

K, k, enough bout Godzilla. On with the show.

AAJ

So we're at AAJ now, and J is the first letter of Jerry (coincidence? Hmmm).

Since this is series J, today's topic will be regarding Jerry, and all about. Let's get started:

AAI

  AAAIII(HHHHH).

Because right after the shout or the gasp of relaxation comes a sigh of relief or a heavy sigh of "not again". Does this have anything to do with the rest of the text? No clue.

AAH

  Aaahh!!!! It's AAH!

H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, which means this is the 8th iteration of sorts of its kind? I dunno, I'm just trying to pad this part here. Let me tell you a tale about a man who decides to documents his days alphabetically, and also randomly. He goes to work, and if something nice happens, or... uhh... if SOMETHING happens, doesn't have to be nice, he writes about it. I guess.

The Bungler

Don't you just love receiving random scam emails? Here's a few that I kept because it's just so adorable. I don't keep those that looks really legit though, those are scary, and could really fool someone who is just tech savvy enough but not enough. I'm just showing the ones that are more... "out there".

Adding the check for viruses at the bottom is a nice touch, as avast is one of the more popular antivirus software.

28 year old Quebecois. Nice.

Jokes on you, I don't have a Netflix account!
Also, they probably use the same email and try to go with the "Ban(k) of america" scam

AAG

Oof, if my previous post made me sound cranky and all, that's probably because I was.

Now, I finally got my life back into rhythm. My sleep, my diet, my exercises, and I'm feeling so much better now. Well... at least emotionally. I'm no longer a cranky boi like I was for the past few weeks. However, those few weeks of bodily neglect means that I fell sick and was basically bedridden for the entire weekend. So yeah, felt good, but also bad, at the same time.

But its fine because its easier to get rid of physical sickness (drink lots of water and sleep a lot). Also lucky me, for I fell sick during my off days! ^^ (Slept for 11 hours that night)

The weather is also getting better! It's been pretty sunny lately. In fact, I'm currently writing up this blog in Rocket's Bakery, downtown! Still reading American Gods. I have extended its borrowing length 3 times already. It takes me almost an hour to finish reading a chapter. I don't know if I am suddenly such a slow reader or just the style of this book makes it longer for me to read (its also a pretty long book).

AAF

I've finally caught up with all the latest things! (Avengers: Endgame and ep3 of Game of Thrones).

Unfortunately, not everyone in my house have seen both, so I can't really talk about it at home, let alone the internet!

I can only say that, since I've only officially started Game of Thrones at season 7, I don't have much connection with the characters (it seems everyone really liked Tormund). Because of that, my favourite character is 100% based off looks. So, who in my books, is the coolest looking dude ever? Well, I've met him first during the Wight Hunt episode, where a bunch of manly mans decided to go capture a wight alive. Also, I've been playing lots of Skyrim recently, so I've been accidentally calling them Draugrs. Anyway, my favourite character is obviously, Lord Beric Dondarrion.

Mr. Tormund.
Lord Beric Dondarrion
Flaming sword was like +100 points.
Was Lord Beric a cool dude in the previous seasons? No clue. But I just go ahead with it anyway, cause his character design is super cool.

AAE

After months and months of academic limbo, I am finally done with MUN (I hope).

I've waited too long for this, I want it to end.

I've been sent to various departments,
red tape there,
red tape here,
but there's one last red tape to go through,
and then I'm finally done with MUN.

The Three G's

So I did three G's this weekend (I'm kinda pushing it, it's just to make it sound nicer).

  The Three G's are:
  1. Geocaching
  2. (American) Gods
  3. Game of Thrones

AAD

This is one of the interim ones. Work has been... well... work. I come home tired and just wants to relax and sleep, and repeat.

Did a few things though, so this post will be a short one, maybe till the weekend, when I have plans.

Sci-fi on the Rock and My Housemate is on My Lap, But Sometimes, on My Head, also known as: My Roommate is a Cat

For the first time in a while, I actually did something! This time, I went to this convention called "Sci-fi on the Rock". Despite it's name, its actually has a very wide variety of geeky things: from sci-fi to anime to fantasy to.... whatever else really.

This is my second convention I've ever attended. The first one was LinCon back at Sweden (that one was much bigger, so big in fact it boasts one of Sweden's largest game convention, SFotR however has the boasting rights of "Newfoundland's largest geek convention", not that it means much).

Yes, there are board games in this convention too, but it's a really small area of it. It's more dedicated to geek culture of sorts, so throughout my entire day there, I can't help but compare it with the other con I went, as opposed to the other con that I didn't go but constantly hear horror stories about: NärCon.

运动后的水是最甜的

I've been attending some kickboxing classes for a few weeks now. The first few classes were tough as heck. Well, it's still tough, but at least I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I'm still horrible with my leading leg kicks though, it doesn't come naturally to me.

Ikigai — The Japanese Secret to a Long Happy Life  book

So, the Ikigai book. What's up about it? Why did I give it only one star when it is such a popular book? Let me just show you a screenshot of the highest rated review of it on goodreads.

AAB

A quickie. I think my next proper post would be my opinion on this book I recently read called "Ikigai: The Secret to a Long and Happy Life".

Spoiler alert: I didn't like it

AAAA2

Would recommend reading AAAA first. You could read this first too if you want, doesn't matter.

AAAA

  4 A's! Because why not!

AAA

Sorry, the title isn't supposed to be a scream, like AAA, or WAA, it's supposed to be more of like the first in the alphabetical list AAA, AAB, AAC, etc. etc.

Naming things is tedious, so for today I'll just go with an AAA, and the next time I can't seem to name something, I'll go with AAB, then AAC, then.... all the way till ZZZ, which is the noise you'll be making by the time I reach that point.

Happy birthday to you,

Chillest Vacation during Vacation-mode ever Part II

As I said in the other post, oversleeping and rushing to the airport is no fun. But, at least I get to see this really cute slogan on Belgium airlines.

Messing Up

So a few weeks ago I was grating some carrots. I accidentally grated my thumb while doing the monotonous *skkrchh skkrchh* thing you do with the carrot. Bled everywhere and hurts like hell. But you know, it feels like a surface wound so I didn't think much of it. People get cuts all the time and then it heals, its normal.

Fast forward to now, the wound has like a mini-pus thing I think. I hope its not an infection.

Chillest Vacation during Vacation-mode ever Part I

One of the hardest part of the trip is my initial 5am flight. My initial plan was to sleep at 6pm and wake up at 12am or something, but of course something went wrong. That something is that I could not sleep. So I stayed awake till my flight. That was really tough, I felt like I could doze off at any time.

My neighbour was returning from the States. She's originally American, but she decided not to go home during Christmas, so she went home before Christmas instead. I entrusted her with my house plants because I do not trust any of my housemates in doing so, and also her home is basically a nursery, a few more plants wouldn't hurt. She was returning around midnight that night, and she told me the moment she gets home she's going to bed, so if I were to give her my plants, I have to catch her between the taxi and her door. The constant standby was tiring too.

After that, I waited for a few more hours, then called a cab, and boarded my plane. I will first have a layover in Toronto, then directly to London. I decided to catch some z's in the short St John's to Toronto flight, and then proceed to stay up through the entire journey, hoping to beat jet lag. It was semi-successful.

Figure 72.1: Chicken or vege?
Uhhh... Chicken?
....
I regret my decision.

A Cancelled Flight

After flying for awhile, I just couldn't wait to get home! When suddenly...

Figure 71.1: Oh dear heavens...
